Jobs in Japan by John Wharton is an excellent resource if you're looking to land a job teaching English. The book was last updated in 1993, so some of the information and many of the contacts will be out of date, but a lot of the information remains valid. Although the author tips his hat towards the possibility of non-teaching work, there is very little to interest job-seekers in other fields.
